We started Ubuntu Pride because we wanted to create a space where people could feel seen,
supported, and celebrated as part of the LGBTQ+ community in South Africa.
For many of us, being open about who we are isn’t always easy. While South Africa has made great
strides in inclusivity, there is still a long way to go in making visibility and acceptance a daily reality.
We wanted to change that—not just for ourselves, but for the generations to come.
Our goal has always been simple: to make it easier for people to live openly and proudly. We believe
that the more visible the community becomes, the easier it will be for others to find acceptance,
support, and confidence in their own identities.
Creating a Space for Connection and Support
Ubuntu Pride is about more than just celebrating pride—it’s about building a true community. We
want to create a platform where people can:
Connect with others who understand their experiences.
Share advice, challenges, and moments of triumph.
Learn about safe spaces and inclusive businesses.
Help shape a more accepting future for the next generation.
For us, visibility is key. When people see pride being expressed openly—whether through
conversation, activism, or even small symbols of identity—it fosters understanding and normalizes
diversity. It helps those who are struggling with their identity feel less alone.
That’s why, as part of our mission, we offer items that allow people to express their pride in a way
that feels authentic to them. But this is just one piece of the puzzle. The real goal is to make it easier
for LGBTQ+ individuals to be seen, supported, and embraced in everyday life.
A Community That Stands Together
Ubuntu Pride is not just about the present—it’s about shaping the future. We want to build a
movement where every South African, no matter where they are in their journey, feels supported
and empowered to live authentically.
We also recognize the power of shared knowledge. Whether it’s highlighting safe spaces, offering
guidance on rights and protections, or simply sharing personal stories, we believe that collective
wisdom can create real change.
At the heart of Ubuntu Pride is a deep belief in the power of community. Alone, change is difficult.
Together, we can make it inevitable.
Join the Movement—Let’s Build This Together
Ubuntu Pride is just getting started, and we want you to be a part of it.
If you have ideas, experiences, or insights to share, we want to hear from you. Whether it’s
suggestions on how we can grow, collaborations that can strengthen the community, or simply
stories that inspire, your voice matters.
The more we uplift each other, the stronger we become. Let’s create a space where pride is not just
celebrated but lived—openly, proudly, and without fear.
Join us, connect with us, and let’s build a future where everyone can thrive as their true selves.
